Beyond the motion of gifting flower arrangements, wreaths, garlands, and head pieces also grew in popularity. Wreath, garlands, and floral tiara's can be attributed to the Greeks. Decorating cornucopia's with flowers, and filling them with fruits and vegetables, is also another practice adopted by other societies that began with Greece. Often times associated with the Thanksgiving holiday, cornucopia's were not initially only used on Thanksgiving.
There are few things in life that stand the test of time. While freshly cut flowers may only display supple petals a certain amount of days in a vase, sending and receiving flowers never goes out of style. The appearance, coupled with the fragrance, makes receiving flowers a wonderful gift for the person who has everything. Sending flowers, for a special occasion or simply as a sign of appreciation, satisfies the sender almost as much as the receiver.
Floral traditions will not fade anytime soon. Moreover, some people prefer to dry their flowers in between the pages of a book or by hanging them upside down. Using the book method flattens a flower while hanging them keeps them more three-dimensional. Potpourri is also another popular use for fallen petals.
Being a florist is not as easy as simply putting flowers in a vase. A lot of study and practice must be completed to be a quality floral provider. Not only do florists serve private people, they also provide arrangements to companies and celebrities. Truly understanding the meanings of flower colors, bouquet size, and water additives is just the beginning. Many in this line of work also study botany and gardening in addition to creating floral arrangements.
